We will be making our own fossils. Please bring an item special to you that you would like to make a fossil out of! Please make sure your item is no larger than a small bowl. The main ingredient for fossil-making is plaster of Paris. This is a powder that becomes a thick liquid when mixed with water, and then sets hard. For safety, an adult will be helping with this project. Choose an object the size of a shell, or anything with an interesting shape or texture and bring it into the library to turn it into a fossil! Please call the library to let us know you’ll be attending! 484-491-1278

On December 27, 2018, 5:30-7:00 p.m. please attend a lecture/conversation about Emily Dickinson at the Oley Valley Community Library, 339 Main Street, Oley, PA 19547, hosted by poet and writer, Marilyn LT Klimcho. This discussion is based upon the stunning biography, Lives Like Loaded Guns, Emily Dickinson and Her Family’s Feuds by Lyndall Gordon, a senior research fellow at St. Hilda’s College in Oxford, England. Learn why Emily lived in seclusion for more than thirty years. Learn how her family’s disputes have affected our image of this most celebrated yet mysterious American poet. Explore your own perceptions and place yourself in the editor’s position by attempting to decipher manuscripts written in Emily’s own hand.
